The ABC stands for Atanasoff-Berry Computer. It was the first electronic digital computing instrument. It was created in 1937. The machine wasn’t programmable. It was only designed for the use of solving linear equations. The ABC was tested and worked during the year 1942. It also had a storage device and a paper card reader/writer which was considered unsuccessful.
Today, the modern computer does not resemble the early computers and we would have a hard time imagining the path of development from the early computers to the small, light-weight and powerful hand-held computers of today.
