Home :: Recreation :: Trains and Railroads
|
Trains and railroads were very important in America’s early trade age. Steam trains were the first type of trains that carried goods and passengers over a railroad faster and more efficiently than any prior means of travel. Today trains are still very popular especially in cities as to travel by car means that one needs to deal with parking which can be expensive and inconvenient. Trains that run underground are called subways and provide transportation for citizens of a city that do not own a car.
Inter-city train travel also makes sense in densely populated areas where the cities are relatively close together. Some countries such as Japan and France have specialized in high-speed inter-city train travel and this mode of transportation is popular in these countries.
