Even with the backing of a stable government, or a democratic society, an organization must still demonstrate its value to the public. Failure can come if an agency attempts to mirror the efforts of a more seasoned foundation. Like a large pump drawing water from a well, the larger organization may dominate the public’s attention supply, leaving the less-equipped group to “pump” smaller pools of potential donors for funding. Many organizations rely on fund raising to maintain their financial position and they must therefore prove their value to society.
